The Sitrion ONE Video feature is an exciting new capability available to all our customers using the Cloud Comms module. The feature allows Cloud Comm publishers to upload videos into Sitrion’s secure cloud environment for playback in our mobile apps. Videos uploaded to Sitrion’s Cloud are only accessible to users logged into the system. This enables organizations to be able to share video content without having to upload it to publicly accessible systems such as YouTube or Vimeo. The feature is also available to be consumed in custom use cases allowing a for a wide range of options such as video learning, employee onboarding, and video sharing amongst users. This guide will cover the video capability within the Cloud Comms module. If your organization would like to leverage this feature for other use cases, reach out to your customer success manager to discuss your options.
The video capability is built into our platform and has the flexibility to be used in many different ways. When a video is added to a Cloud Comm message, users will have a simple to use and familiar experience to playback content.
When a video is shared in a Cloud Comm message, the video control will show on the summary and detail view of the card. It renders a video thumbnail with a play icon overlay. When tapped, the user navigates to a full screen video player allowing the user play, pause, fast forward and rewind the video.
To ensure your tenant has video enabled, navigate to the resources console in the Sitrion ONE administration console, there you should see a video tab to access the video manager. If this option is not available, engage with your customer success manager to get the feature enabled on your tenant.
The Video feature allows administrators to manage all videos in the system using the Video Manager console. This console is accessible by navigating to Resources -> Videos. The video manager allows administrators to upload and delete videos, as well as editing video titles and thumbnails. The video manager also allows administrators to view metrics for each video.
To upload a new video, drag your video to the Upload surface or click the icon inside the upload surface which will open an open file dialogue.
Once the file has been accepted, the console will notify you on the upload progress.
You can cancel the upload anytime by clicking the progress bar in the upload surface.
When the file upload is completed, the video manager will provide you a success indicator and will start the processing and encoding steps.
While the video is encoding, you can click the encoding progress indicator to edit the video title. During the encoding stage, you can navigate anywhere in the system or even log out. This stage is automated and will complete in the background.
When the video encoding and processing is complete, the video will show with a default thumbnail selected as well, the edit option will be available. Once you have progressed to this stage, your video upload process is complete.
The Sitrion Video feature uses Azure Media Services to store, encode and stream your uploaded videos. To understand what formats are supported by our Video feature please refer to the following Microsoft Azure site:
Editing a video allows you to delete, edit the video title and customize the video thumbnail. To edit a video click the edit button for the video to which you want to edit.
To Edit a video title, just change the text in the title text box and click save to commit your changes.
Thumbnails are automatically generated by the encoding process, to change or customize your thumbnail just click the customize thumbnail button. Next click the Upload Thumbnail button to select a new image then click apply. This image will show on the video preview when the video is shared in a Cloud Comm message.
To delete a video click the delete button. A confirmation view will appear in place of the delete button to ensure you want to take this action.
Note: A Deleted Video is deleted permanently and cannot be recovered.
The Video Manager contains all metrics related to videos. Metrics are available for all videos along with metrics for each individual video.
On the right hand side of the video manager, you can view global video metrics in your tenant. The available metrics are:
- Total video count
- Total views for all videos
- Total size for all videos (storage space)
- Total duration of all video
- Each video have metrics such as:
- Unique Users that have viewed the video
- How many cards are using the video
- Date Uploaded
- Author (user whom uploaded)
- Video size
The Video feature allows administrators to set how much a video needs to be watched in order to count a view. This setting is helpful in ensuring that video view counts are only counted when users have viewed a specific percentage of the video. This setting is applied to all videos stored in the video manager.
As mentioned above, sometime video uploads fail. There can be many reasons for this such as unsupported codecs, unsupported container/file formats, bad audio encoding or bad video encoding. Video formats vary widely and it is not possible to handle all formats.
Please refer to the Azure media services page for all supported formats.
